Guy Marsala Oil & Lube

National Oil & Lube News profiled Guy's turnaround story at EZ Lube in a front page feature.

Proven Experience As "The Turnaround Guy"

Guy Marsala has built a successful career bringing leadership skills learned as a West Point-trained Army officer and Fortune 500 executive to small-middle market companies. He has served in numerous senior executive roles and board of director positions in both public and private companies, including the positions of Chairperson, CEO, President, Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President, Executive Vice President and Director.

In 2010, Guy was hired by Goldman Sachs to be President and CEO of EZ Lube, one of their private equity portfolio companies. EZ Lube had faced numerous compliance and financial challenges that led to a bankruptcy filing in 2008. Less than two years after taking the helm, the value of EZ Lube more than doubled and a sale to a strategic buyer was completed ahead of schedule. The company was named “Company of the Year” by the Association for Corporate Growth. The Orange County Business Journal, National Oil & Lube News, and Smart Business profiled the turn-around story in front-page features.

Guy’s impressive record of improving businesses includes a tenfold market capitalization increase at Navarre Corporation, a publicly traded music and software entertainment distributor, and the reversal of 15 years of declining sales and the restoration of double-digit sales and profit growth at Jostens, a scholastic products company. He also played a lead role in the integration of Corporate Express and BT Office Products, an acquisition that was lauded by BusinessWeek and generated a return on investment for shareholders of 110% in the first year after the two companies merged.

Guy’s list of accomplishments also includes senior executive roles with Hollywood Video, Corinthian Colleges and ARAMARK. Earlier in his career, he served as a Captain in the US Army, and later progressed through a series of positions of increased responsibility with American Hospital Supply Corporation and PepsiCo. Guy holds an MBA from the University of Dallas and a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Superior Board of Director Service

Guy served on the board at Saxco International, LLC, for 7 years, initially as CEO, and subsequently as Chairperson. In the past, he has also held board member positions with Kaenon, Inc. (Chairperson), Medbox, Inc. (Chairperson), EZ Lube, LLC, SERE Industries, All American Leadership, the Association for Corporate Growth of Orange County, Project Access, the YMCA, the L.A. Urban League, Junior Achievement and Orange County Drug Use Is Life Abuse: Project No Gangs, and the California-Nevada Soft Drink Association.

Executive Mentoring. Strategic Planning. Dynamic Change.

As an experienced Executive, Guy provides superior mentorship and leadership to middle-market companies. His enthusiasm and background allows him to quickly identify strengths and weaknesses, connect with others, and generate positive results.

Guy Marsala is simply the finest leader I have ever reported to… period. And that includes the officers I reported to in The U.S. Army Rangers and every company I worked for before, or since, I met Guy. None have measured up to this outstanding leader."

- Gabe Gabriel, Retired Business Executive
